We're hiring a Sales Account Manager!

We are looking for a Sales Account Manager to represent Saltaire Brewery in the independent trade, helping grow our reach across the North of England, and beyond. This is a rare opportunity, having not recruited for this role externally for more than five years.

You will be a beer-loving sales professional with proven experience in our industry, or something very similar. You’ll be able to build and develop relationships, demonstrating strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the sector in order to deliver against income and margin targets, while upholding and championing our brand. The role requires a balanced mix of existing account management and new business activity.

The successful candidate will also have a track-record of supporting, coaching and mentoring other sales team members to help maximise their impact, and to enable maximum efficiency of the Account Manager’s time.

This is a full-time role located at Saltaire Brewery, where you’ll touch base weekly, but as a well-organised self-starter, you’ll manage your own diary as you see fit.

Main responsibilities:

  • Be able to understand customer requirements in the beer industry, talk confidently about the range, and offer solutions.
  • Using existing CRM system, effectively maximise sales opportunities to achieve targets. Build relationships with regular customers, understand how, what and when they like to order, and fulfil their needs accordingly.
  • Work closely with the Sales Administrator team who will assist with identifying potential opportunities, updating call lists, and following up introductions.
  • Take responsibility for the independent on trade and off trade sales channels. Manage own diary between communicating with the brewery team, keeping in touch with existing customers remotely, regularly seeing key accounts face-to-face, and developing new relationships.
  • Manage and represent the Brewery at sales events, both in-house and externally, such as meet the brewers, tap takeovers, beer and food matching etc.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure credit control is well-managed.

  • Proven sales track-record and the ability to work as part of a team but take responsibility for own performance.
  • Computer literate and familiar with all Microsoft Office programs. Word and Excel essential.
  • An outgoing, positive personality with the ability to adapt to varied customer styles. Work well with sales colleagues and the wider brewery team; 'fit' into the existing culture.
  • The role requires the candidate to have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Have a ‘farmer’ and ‘hunter’ mentality with the discipline and ability to switch roles and approaches when required.

  • Previous experience in a similar role essential.
  • Telesales and face-to-face sales experience essential.
  • Background in beer industry is preferred.

  • Competitive salary plus bonus package.
  • 33 days holiday per year including bank holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.

This role is a full-time position based on 37.5 hours a week with occasional weekend work required.
