We're hiring a Packaging Operative!
We're looking to grow our packaging team with an additional packaging operative to help support our busy bottling and kegging schedule. It's an exciting time to join our team as Saltaire Brewery continues to broaden its reach in the UK and overseas and diversify into new and exciting customer channels.
About the job
We’re looking for a hardworking and conscientious individual to join our packaging team full time. You will be collectively responsible for the processing and packaging of up to 12,000 litres of beer a day into bottles and kegs.
The team works a weekly rota of 7.5hour shifts, between 6am and 8pm, Monday to Friday.
About the candidate
You will report to our Packaging Manager and work closely with other departments, including our production and sales teams, to ensure the consistency and quality of the product is maintained throughout the process.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team, be organised, prepared to work hard and flexibly, and have good attention to detail in your approach to work are all key skills you'll need to be successful.
Main duties include:
- Running the bottling line; involving set up, adjusting carbonation, setting the labeller, managing the filling unit, and cleaning.
- Quality analysis in our lab, ensuring beer matches spec from fermentation through to final pack.
- Working closely with the brewing team to ensure beer is transferred and processed as per the production demand.
- Taking ownership of day-to-day cleaning regimes to maintain exceptionally high standards of hygiene within the packaging plant.
- Maintaining packaging records and tracking stock levels
- Carrying out maintenance duties and being proactive in monitoring equipment to minimise failure.
Minimum requirements:
- Legal right to work in UK.
- At least C grade GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Good level of physical fitness.
Desirable skills & experience (not essential):
- Experience of working in a food or drink packaging environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
- Experience working in beer industry
- Forklift licence
- Engineering experience

Salary: Competitive.
