Our Brewery
We love creating delicious, high quality beers with real character! We don't compromise on quality. Whether it's our own beer, a collaboration or a contract beer, we brew the Saltaire way to produce good, honest beer - always. Beer. Done. Right.
Our story
It began in 2003 over a laboratory bench when Tony Gartland, owner and founder, met Derek Todd, an industrial chemist at a Brewlab course in Newcastle. They had no idea then that starting one of the earliest microbreweries in Yorkshire would grow into the brewery and packaging facility it is today, producing more than 5 million pints of beer a year for drinkers around the globe.
Tony and Derek were ambitious and obsessed with quality and flavour. They set up with a 20bbl bespoke Moeschle brew kit in 2005 and the following year started producing as many as three beers a week.
Saltaire Blonde and Cascade Pale followed in 2007, and quickly became popular with pubs and drinkers. Since then we’ve grown our beer range, our team, as well as our brewing kit. National and international recognition has followed. Our multi-award winning Triple Choc speciality stout delights drinkers everywhere!
In 2017, we invested in a bespoke 40bbl Moeschle brew kit to secure our capacity to stay true to ourselves by brewing our beers, our way. The obsession with quality and flavour is thriving. Our aim is to create exceptional beer to be enjoyed by everyone.
Our latest exciting development is a state of the art packaging plant with capacity to bottle up to 100,000 units a week. Full control of our end-to-end processes gives us great flexibility over our capacity, and means we can now offer contract brewing and packaging services to help others perfect their craft.
